A Bicycle Trip Turned Cornflower Picking Adventure

The day was a classic summer day, the sky was a lush white shade of blue, the weather was just perfect - a glorious day to embark on a bicycle trip with the family towards the local ice creamery. The prospect of a delicious sweet treat after a bit of a fun ride, a wonderful combination of summer delights. What we didn't expect was the detour our trip would take.

We were pedaling along the scenic routes, enjoying the view of rippling wheat fields, when Ronia, with her keen and ever observant eyes, spotted something unusual amidst the golden sea of wheat. "Are those cornflowers?" she asked with a twinkle of excitement in her eyes, "Is that why they are called cornflowers?" A cluster of beautiful blue petals peeping out from the wheat fields had caught her attention.

We slowed down, stopped our bikes, and walked towards the patch of blue. As we got closer, we realized that Ronia was right. It was indeed a patch of vibrant, wild cornflowers, gently swaying in the breeze, their blue blossoms standing in stark contrast against the golden wheat. What a delightfully unexpected find!

We started gently plucking the delicate cornflowers, taking care to not disturb the surrounding wheat stalks. What a delight to see the bicycle baskets filling up with these blue jewels!

These vibrant cornflowers aren't just beautiful decorations, they're also wonderful additions to our tea. Their slightly sweet, slightly spicy flavor makes for an exciting twist in a cup of Earl Grey, especially when dried. And in a tiny wase - They are a delight for people and critters alike!
