A Wreath of May Flowers
As the vibrant month of May unfolds, our garden and woods bursts into a riot of colors, heralding the arrival of spring's full bloom. This year, we're celebrating with a wreath that captures the essence of May, using an assortment of wildflowers that include bells, bellis, and dandelions. The adventure begins with Bear, our youngest, who takes immense joy in scouting the woods and garden for the perfect long-stalked flowers. His excitement in finding each bloom is contagious, turning a simple walk into an enthusiastic treasure hunt. Once we gather enough flowers, we bring our bounty to a sunny spot, to prepare for wreath-making. This activity not only celebrates the beauty of our garden but also honors Bear’s effort and enthusiasm.
We choose a variety of May flowers that are not only beautiful but also sturdy enough to withstand being woven into a wreath. The vibrant yellows of dandelions, the delicate whites of bellis, and the charming blues of bellflowers make a stunning palette.
Initially, Bear wears the wreath as a crown, running around the garden with a trail of laughter, embodying the spirit of spring. After its time as a symbol of play and celebration, the wreath finds its second purpose: adorning our front door. Here, it serves as a beautiful greeting to visitors.
